2025 Hero Dog Awards: Nominate Your Canine Hero Today!
The American Humane Society‘s Hero Dog Awards®, celebrating their 15th year, are now accepting nominations for exceptional canines. These prestigious awards recognize dogs across various categories: Law enforcement & first responders, Service & guide/hearing dogs, Emerging hero & shelter dogs, Therapy dogs, and Military dogs. The nomination period closes June 30, 2025, followed by public voting from August 4th to September 15th. A panel of judges will ultimately select the winners, who will be celebrated at a televised award show and gala in Palm Beach next January. The awards highlight the incredible bond between humans and animals, showcasing dogs who have demonstrated exceptional bravery, service, and resilience. Past winners include Bo, a K9 officer who helped locate missing persons; Ethan, a shelter dog who overcame near-death starvation; Maverick, a therapy dog supporting service members; and Little Man, a search and rescue dog who rescued survivors after a tornado. The American Humane Society, a 150-year-old nonprofit, organizes this event as part of their broader mission of animal welfare, which includes providing disaster relief, training service dogs, and promoting animal welfare standards in film production. Nominating your dog is a chance to recognize their extraordinary contributions and celebrate the remarkable human-animal bond. All nominated dogs must be alive and reside permanently in the United States. Each dog can only be entered into one category. The awards provide a platform to share uplifting stories and give deserving canines the recognition they deserve.
